Eid competition: Run Pariyal, run!

Runner carried 100 kilogram bag of wheat on his shoulders for 7km to win a race organised on the second day of Eid.

UBAURO/ GHOTKI: Thousands of people cheered on as Pariyal Shaikh carried a 100 kilogram bag of wheat on his shoulders for seven kilometres to win a race organised on the second day of Eid. Shaikh won Rs10,000 for his efforts.  The runner-up, Ali Gul Shaikh, managed to run with the bag for five kilometres. According to the PPI news agency, Ali Gul Shaikh fainted after five kilometers. The rain-affected people of Ubauro Tehsil of Ghotki district organized a competition to carry a 100kg wheat bag on shoulders for a long distance on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha as part of the festivities. Those attending the race reportedly bet thousands of rupees on the outcome. The race was from Ubarao road to Langhu road.
