As it was initially believed to be a case of suicide, an inquest by SP Siraj Lashari looked into possible suspects but finally established that the singer took his own life. The incident happened on April 22, 2012, in the limits of Qasimabad police station.
However, the singer’s wife, Afshan, now alleges that Manzoor’s brother Mushtaq Wadho, his son Mohsin Wadho, sisters Safia Sultana and Mumtaz are involved in the death. “Their eyes were always on our property,” said Afshan, addressing a press conference on Wednesday. “The relations got worse when Mushtaq avoided paying back three million rupees he had borrowed from my husband.”
But why did she keep silent for so long? “They had threatened to kill my children,” said Afshan.
At the time of the death, Mushtaq Wadho had accused Manzoor’s brothers-in-law of murdering him. However, the police did not find any evidence to implicate them in the case.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the sixth additional and district judge ordered the Qasimabad police to lodge an FIR on Afshan’s complaint against Manzoor’s family. Afshan claims that her in-laws have taken possession of the jewelry, property, car and the property documents which belonged to her and her husband.
