LAHORE:

“Agricultural economy is on the verge of collapse and the present government is completely ignoring economic rights of farming community. Support prices of sugarcane should be fixed at Rs200 per 40 kilogramme. Increase in support price will have a deep impact in reviving economic plight of the farmers,” said former minister for industries and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Leader Jahangir Khan Tareen.

Tareen, in a statement, said that prices of diesel, di-ammonia phosphate (DAP), urea, and electricity had increased substantially in the last two years but support price was still the same.

In view of the genuine demand of the farmers, the Punjab government should announce increase in support price of sugarcane. He said that provision of relief will have a deep influence.
