Doctors’ clash: Committee formed to probe incident

The committee has been asked to submit its report as soon as possible.

The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) on Thursday constituted a four member committee to probe the recent clash between doctors at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).


The committee that is being headed by Senior Joint Secretary CADD Abdul Latif Laghari was constituted in a meeting held on Thursday between Pims administration and CADD. Out of the four members, two are from Pims and two from CADD.

The committee has asked four members of Young Doctors Association, namely Dr Asfandyar Khan, Dr Taqqi, Dr Bhangash and Dr Shams, to submit their detailed written reply regarding the incident in which glass windows of the executive director’s office at Pims were smashed.

The committee has been asked to submit its report as soon as possible and action will be taken against those who were responsible, said an official. Meanwhile, during the meeting Pims ED Prof Riaz Ahmed Warraich announced that post graduate trainees will now be called residents and medical officers will now be promoted up to grade-20. Earlier they used to retire in grade-17.
