KARACHI: The government released seven Indian fishermen, including an ailing child, here on Wednesday.

The fishermen, detained by Maritime Security Agency, were released from Malir Jail in Karachi and sent to Lahore from where they are expected to be handed over to Indian authorities at the Wagha border on Thursday. The released Indian fishermen include a 12-year-old boy named Kishan Babu, who has been under treatment at Karachi Civil Hospital. Suffering from mental ailment, the child was to be released on May 17 earlier this year.

However, the release was delayed due to health reasons. After his release, Kishan has appreciated jail authorities for providing timely medical attention. The remaining fishermen, who will soon reach their family members across the border, have been identified as Ramesh Segal, Krishan Soma, Amrat Lal, Vipal, Harsht and Bhagul Bhagwan.
