'MQM will lead an impending revolution'

MQM chief Altaf Hussain said that Pakistan will see a revolution similar to that of France.

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Thursday said that the people are geared up for a revolution and Pakistan will see a one similar to that of France.

Altaf Hussain said poverty and inflation have risen to a level where it is difficult to stop the way for a revolution. He called for bringing those who looted the national exchequer to justice.

He said that the MQM will lead this impending revolution and added that he is not afraid of being dragged into courts.

He gave these statements while addressing the launch of a book written by MQM coordinating committee deputy convenor Anees Qaim Khani in Karachi.

The MQM chief has made several similar statements in the past few days and he has received much criticism from different political parties for his statements calling for a revolution.

The PML-N, ANP and the Jamaat-i-Islami had submitted privilege motions in the parliament against Altaf Hussain for his earlier statements calling for a 'patriotic general' to deal with corrupt politicians.

The MQM recently announced that Altaf Hussain has decided to talk to the people over the telephone every Sunday from 5pm to 7pm.

The taasubi (bigoted) commentators continue to whine about Altaf Hussain's British passport without bothering to find out why he had to get a British passport to start off with. Also, it is way too much thinking for them to figure out why the Pakistani Embassy in the UK continues to refuse to issue him a Pakistani passport. If Altaf Hussain goes to Pakistan with his British passport he will either: 1. Be eliminated physically, 2. Thrown in jail for the cooked up charges PPP and PML-N made against him, 3. Thrown in jail by making a fresh list of charges against him in the 1990s, or 4. Be sent back to UK through the diplomatic technicality of "persona non grata." Altaf Hussain is God's gift to Pakistan; a nation of perpetual juveniles who refuse to grow up. Respect the gift and compete/collaborate with China and India. Otherwise, be disintegrated into pieces only to be claimed by Iran, United States of Afghanistan, China and India.

By the way who welcomed General Pervez Musharraf? The people of Pakistan or Altaf Hussain? Had Altaf Hussain been a supporter of military dictatorship he would have solidly supported the general in his referendum. But the memories are short lived. Those who were raised under the umbrella of dictatorship have become the champions of democracy and those who suffered under military dictatorship are being reviled as undemocratic.

Rizzi Elahi | 14 years ago | Reply Let’s be fair with MQM.. First of all they are fellow Pakistani and they are Muslim. Now none of the political party has clean hands in the past. Imran Khan yes but he is in making leader. Time for revolution is now. In recent years MQM leaders have amde credible statements based on facts and Mayor Of Karachi has given us proven record. One can dislike this Party but how can truth be denied? I am not fan of Altaf or MQM my self. But I can not deny the truth about MQM in recent years. People are waiting and waiting for someone to lead. Why the hell all other leaders including Musharraf failed to call for revolution. Once again MQM did something which others did not want to do rather they wanted and still want cooked food in the plate. With out any sacrifice. We must recognize the right moves of any Pakistani by placing differences on the side. What harm it will do to Pakistan? Only harm I see is that it might awake up sleeping politicians. Once they are wake if they are not capable of doing such things or if they are capable of doing something like this… People will have the chance to make decision. doodh kaa dhood our pani ka pani samnay aah jaay gaa. So I am putting my differences on the side. I give the well deserving credit to MQM to make a voice for total change. Hope this revolution result

We are failed to understand what you want to say in the real sense. The clarification received by is from your supporters goes to different direction with other meanings.

It took them some time to find that all that glitters is not gold. Those who were seen as innocent, deprived, homeless and hapless were to lead them to closed alley. 'The present statements of Altaf Hussain is to be seen with caution. The hidden agenda should be unveiled. He wants more power and living space for the NRIs in Pakistan. He talks of hanging jagirdars and Waderas who all happen to be non NRIs. Altaf appears to be quite out of touch with political reality in Pakistan. He is seen a Municipal leader of one of the ethnic group. He has no place in any other province. He won a seat in Kashmir assembly because Musharraf wanted his NRI brother to increase his influence. However that was the last time.

Khan | 14 years ago | Reply Only Mr. Altaf Hussain can lead this revolution because he is already struggling for revolution since last many years and MQM is the only hope for the masses because it is from the middle class and everyone knows that Revolution always arise from Middle Class the I think the time has come to decide which system you want and everyone should take it on serious notes because this is MQM and Mr. Altaf Hussain who never step back so prepare yourself ready for this because Mr. Altaf Hussain already asked the masses to get on their feet and we have witnessed some incidents in interior Sindh people are angry on there elected members and this is a pre-revolutionary stage so my request to everyone read history of revolution and you will witness that we are in living in pre-revolution.

 MQM is reality in Pakistan’s political system. MQM is only hope for middle class educated and poor patriotic peoples of Pakistan. MQM has capability and strength for the revolution against the corrupt political system and feudalism. MQM is what doing it is highly appreciated to continue effort and struggle for rights of suppressed peoples.

Tauseef Asghar | 14 years ago | Reply On the ground - a revolution is getting prepared, you need to chose which side you are ! whether MQM or some one else will channelize it and apparently i dont see any one other than Altaf Hussain or Imran Khan Leading it though Imran Khan does not have the masses support and an organized party like MQM. Despite of all the criticism and pressure, MQM has shown its metal and it has survived for the last two decades so it will be interesting to see how they have planned to channelized the anger of pakistanis in the right direction .... Interesting times for Pakistan ....

faisal khan | 14 years ago | Reply i think altaf bahi is absolutely right about the corrupt politicians feudal lords and corrupt industrialist.look at the current scenerio of politics .just three corrupt main parties are determining the fate of this great country.only altaf hussain and mqm can get the people out of this mess posed by ppp,pml n and pml q.so many educated guys in abbottabad are coming up towards joinning mqm but coz of local monoply of so called leaders of party in abbottabad are not encouraging the educated guys due to thier vested interests.mqm should keep an eye on these peoples.
