KARACHI: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai, have announced the initiation of the first joint executive education programme for family businesses in Pakistan. According to a press release, first workshop of a series of 10 workshops on “Managing Family Business – What is the Job of Top Management?” was held on October 19 and 20 at IBA. IBA Dean and Director Dr Ishrat Husain commented, “Family businesses in Pakistan have either been expanding or closing down or facing operational difficulties. We haven’t yet been able to make a systematic study of the factors that influence these outcomes. The SPJ Institute is a regional leader in training and developing case studies on this subject in India. We wish to benefit from their expertise to train our family business managers and also develop our knowledge base.”
