PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) women’s wing held a protest on Tuesday asking the government to end military operations in tribal areas. Holding placards and banners inscribed with anti-war slogans, the PTI activists said that if the government carried out the military operation in North Waziristan the consequences would be catastrophic. PTI women’s wing provincial leader Ayesha Gulalai said the people of North Waziristan have constantly been victims of drone attacks, which she alleged had killed hundreds of innocent civilians. “Previous operations have failed to produce any positive results and lawlessness persists,” she said. Suggesting that a peace process be initiated, Gulalai said that tribal people have always remained loyal to the state of Pakistan.
