Mass funeral prayers held in Lahore

Funeral prayers of three victims of the Gamay Shah blast have been offered in different areas of Lahore.

LAHORE: Funeral prayers of three victims of the Gamay Shah blast have been offered in different areas of Lahore.

The funeral prayers for 14-year-old Hafiz Wahab and 12-year-old Ibrar were offered in Eid Gah.

The two martyrs were burried at the Miani Sahib graveyard.

Meanwhile, funeral prayers for Mazhar Sheikh were offered at Imam Bargah Mochi Gate and he was burried at the Firdousia graveyard on Ferozpur Road.

Amongst the victims were also three members of a family, while two were injured after serials blasts rocked Lahore last night.

Rehmat Ali, a resident of Taxali gate, was killed along with his four-year-old son Hasan Ali and nephew Ghulam Sabir.

Ali’s wife and other son are in critical condition and have been shifted to the hospital.

Speaking to Express News, his family demanded the government take strict action against the culprits to stop terror activities in the city

They have always appeared in our historical narrative with their arrogant easy certainties about Islam. Theses characters have turned up all the time when we are at crossroads. That is why with the exception of few instances in the last 1400 years our resultant progress is almost zero. Of course some people are going to talk about Alhambra and Islamic geometry in a superficial way. We have to take stock of our decadence first before pointing fingers and beheading each other. We learn to appreciate each other’s views on the religion. We need to recognize the value of religious complexity rather than bombing the hell out of each other. Our curriculum is empty when it comes to the philological and philosophical contribution of Islamic scholars. Therefore ignorant preachers have created a terrible noisy theology in which they themselves are the central figures. These blood suckers claimed to have resolved everything about religion and God, which itself is superciliousness and downright blasphemous. Taliban and their other allies in our society have created a tribal version of Islam, an over simplistic shallow version of Islam lacking in theological depth, which fully accommodates their tribal values and a limited, shallow and definite version of Allah, who they claim to have understood. Where women are no more than livestock and brutal medieval punishments are what Islam is all about, where fear=Allah period and the essence of their being is a spiritually barren, reactionary existence a shallow theological exercise- a quick resolve, like fast food for their religious appetite.

Bunty Khan | 14 years ago | Reply Religion has today damaged Pakistan the most than any other thing. Ironically, the country only has one major religion and despite that there are still conflicts. I think its about time that the 'Islamic Republic of Pakistan' should become the 'Republic of Pakistan.' The former is a fragmented theory that can never work out. The damage which has been created by religious fundamentalism in the country will take years to eradicate. This monster cannot be taken out in a single instance, and the only solution is to get rid of this nonsense. A 'secular' Pakistan has always been in our historic foundations.

Dont washed out the hands by blaming other religion or other parts of world. The problem are within the sosciety. There are some sugestion to eradicate the problem. Let the people to decide, it is their personal affairs to be religious or to worship god.Dont to impose any religious fundamentalism to them. Let them to think freely. Let them to find out good things for the well being of human sosciety. Dont brain wash the children in madrassas.If any philosophical institution up hols these simple theory it is sure that all problem would be eleminated.

You really sound like a sympathiser of Taliban for declaring innocent victims of terrorism only " dead" instead of martyrs. Sell your self-righteous and narrow vision of " Islamic jurisprudence" somewhere else. Stop bashing "Black Water" for every crime instead of issuing full condemnation to these murderous and monsters Taliban. Get some senses !!!!!
