Interior Ministry bans 40 organisations from collecting animal hides, donations this Eid

Organisations include Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Sipaah Muhammad, Tehreek-e-Jafria, Hizbut Tahrir, Jamaatud Dawa.

The Interior Ministry has banned 40 organisations from collecting animal hides and donations this Eidul Azha, Express News reported Tuesday.

The organisations banned include Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Sipaah Muhammad, Tehreek-e-Jafria, Lashkar-e-Taib, Hizbut Tahrir, Jamiatul Ansar, Balochistan Republic Army, Balochistan Liberation Front, Lashkar-e-Balochistan, Rabita Trust, Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat, Jaishul Islam, Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat, Millat-e-Islamia Pakistan, Islami Tehreek-e-Pakistan Khudul Islam, Jamaatud Dawa and Sunni Tehreek and other banned outfits.

The Interior Ministry issued notices to home departments of all four provinces.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that no respite will be given to the animal hide and extortion mafia.

Malik said that security will be beefed up for Eid congregations.

Eidul Azha will be celebrated on October 27.

haider | 12 years ago | Reply The collection of hides of sacrificed animals during Eid ul Azha is an ongoing issue in the country. Violating the spirit of this great Islamic event, the collection of hides is being done either by political parties, the religious parties and the proscribed Jehadi organizations unabated in the country. The government could not do any thing about it except announcements that the proscribed organizations cannot collect hides. During this Eid the political parties, religious parties and the proscribed jehadi organizations collected skins under the garb of their respective welfare organizations. The day of Eid was seen as a kind of political activity in which the respective organizations were chanting slogens and appeals on vehicles with loudspeakers, displaying banners across the country for donating the skins. The question arises as to where the people will give the hides, obviously they will give the hides at their convenience like those who are coming at the door steps or to the nearby camps. If the political parties, religious parties and the proscribed organizations can undertake an organized campaign in this regard , why not the government ? The most deserving people who should get the money out of the skins are the poor and the same should go under head “Zakat”. The Zakat department of government should organize collection points across the country through respective state organs for collection of hides. This way the masses will get a fair opportunity to give the hides with ease and at the same moment the other parties will be deprived of an opportunity to fill their kitty for their vested interests.

I've never liked Imran Khan and I like him even less with each passing day (due to his political stance), but we still give the hides to Shaukat Khanum and will continue to do so. They (and the Edhi Foundation) are the only ones worth giving to.
