Caring for the elderly: First senior citizens home inaugurated
"The home would provide food, clothes and health facilities to its residents," says K-P Social Welfare Minister.
PESHAWAR:
Peshawar’s first senior citizens home was inaugurated on Monday by K-P Social Welfare Minister Sitara Ayaz. Located in Jehangirabad, the home can accommodate up to 25 people. So far, 21 people have registered, 13 of them from tribal areas. They include people who were homeless. The project will cost an estimated Rs14.8 million and will eventually have district branches in Kohistan, Shangla and Battagram. Ayaz said that citizens would not be obligated to stay at the facility and would be free to move home if they wished. She said that anyone above the age of 60 could stay at the shelter. She also said the home would provide food, clothes and health facilities to its residents.
