Cricket: Younus hits ton on day of centuries

KARACHI: Younus Khan batted his way back to form with an unbeaten ton for HBL as the fourth round of the President’s Trophy got underway yesterday.

As many as four centuries were scored on the opening day with Qaiser Abbas, Abid Ali and Sohaib Maqsood sharing the limelight.

Younus, who was dropped for the Australia One-Day Internationals in August, made an unbeaten 101 as HBL reached 242 for four at the end of the first day against SBP.

Meanwhile, Abid stole the limelight in Rawalpindi
with an unbeaten 124, helping UBL make 241 for three against KRL.

Qaiser Abbas also hit an unbeaten 104, lifting NBP to 317 for eight against PIA after the dismissal of Nasir Jamshed (35) and Fawad Alam (24).

At the Sports Stadium in Sargodha, Sohaib Maqsood steered Wapda to 284 for seven after a 110-run knock despite a good bowling display from Abdul Razzaq, who claimed three wickets for just 53 runs for ZTBL.

Meanwhile, PQA were the only side to bundle out their opposition on the opening day, managing 49 without loss after SNGPL were bowled out for 266 following a four-wicket haul by Azam Hussain.
