Deadly clash: ‘Robber’ killed in police encounter

BAHAWALPUR: A robber was killed in an encounter with police at Khairpur Daha on Sunday night, police said.

They said that around 10 armed robbers had broken into Abdul Majeed’s House in the Dhoor Kot area. They said the robbers fired several shots on entering the house, then held up Majeed’s family and started collecting valuables. Police said some of the neighbours heard the gunshots and informed them. A police party reached the scene and drew fire from the criminals. ASI Zulqarnain, passer by Muhammad Riaz and Majeed were injured in the firing. Police returned the fire and killed one of the men later identified as Zafar Panohaan. His accomplices escaped.
