Creating awareness: LUMHS holds seminar on Thalessemia

They said that around 10 million Pakistanis had Thalassemia.

HYDERABAD: The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) organised a seminar on using genotypes instead of doing blood transfusions to control Thalessemia.

The university’s vice chancellor, Prof. Mashoor Alam Shah, and other medical researchers, including Prof. Tahir Shamsi and Prof. Saqib Ansari, spoke at the seminar. They said that around 10 million Pakistanis had Thalassemia and 6,000 babies were born every year with the disease.
