Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq was fined Rs100,000 for his criticism of Twenty20 captain Mohammad Hafeez after blaming him for his omission from the World Twenty20 semi-final against Sri Lanka.
Razzaq said Hafeez was solely responsible for the decision and was slapped with a show-cause by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over the remarks. In his reply, however, Razzaq apologised and added the outburst was out of frustration at being sidelined.
Meanwhile, Hafeez insisted that axing Razzaq was the team management’s decision.
“He’s been serving Pakistan for long,” said Hafeez. “I won’t talk about what he said but the decision not to play him was taken by the team management.”
