Speaking to the media on Friday, Rehman said that Pakistan was not a strategic partner of any other country because the law and order of Pakistan was “our own problem,” hinting that there was external pressure for the operation.
“We are bound to rectify the situation and restore normalcy to the country,” he stated.
Malala vs Aafia
The JUI-F chief claimed that while the media provides one-sided coverage to Malala Yousafzai, it continues to ignore Aafia Siddiqui, who has been languishing in a US jail for years.
“Innocent people including women and children are killed daily but no one turns up to take notice of the atrocities,” he said, while terming the coverage given to Malala as propaganda for the sake of vested interests.
MMA revival
Commenting on the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) which was revived for the second time on Thursday, the party chief said that if the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) wishes to join the coalition, it should write an application for consideration.
He added that if anyone wants to join MMA, the alliance of senior leaders will consider their plea in a meeting. While Rehman conceded they would consider seat adjustments with other parties in the upcoming general elections, but he ruled out an electoral alliance with any party.
“The religious parties will contest polls from MMA’s platform,” he maintained.
Informing the media that the MMA was in contact with all parties, Rehman and that the reorganisation of the coalition will be completed in a month’s time.
Asghar Khan ruling
Referring to the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Asghar Khan petition, Rehman observed that the presidency should not have any political wing and should refrain from expelling or inducting anyone in the government setup.
He further alleged that the establishment has always influenced the political landscape of Pakistan in the past.
Rehman maintained that a mere decision was not enough in Asghar Khan’s case and a thorough probe should be conducted. “If a prime minister of the country could be sent packing, punishment should also be declared in this case as well,” he added.

Malala can win him over if she gives him all the money being donated to her cause by people all over the world.
@Ibrahim Khan: Should she have not received attention even after she was shot in the head for speaking up for her right to education? What a pathetic sense of logic!
It's Mir Jaffer or Mir Qadim, and not Mir Zafar. Incedently Mir Jaffer was great grand father of our first president that is skinder Mirza. And he was Bengali..@Enlightened:
@Gill: You are truly sick...
This person is digusting. Does he not realise that 2 wrongs do not make right.
Stop dithering Maulana Sahab, grow a backbone and just admit that women, their rights, their issues, their very existence, is a lot like anathema to your political/ideological "cause". Be a fascist for all I care, but have the integrity to not sugarcoat your prose.
This pedophile needs to be locked up
@Gill: There is no question of pleasing any one .. you need to open your eyes .. Malala stood for this country and its future which cowards like this Maulana can never do. Tribal areas are ours and are part of this land, any one living there must respect laws of this country and stop crossing to another country to spread destruction. If they don't stop willingly they will be forced to either by our Army (unfortunately who're not able to) or by those who have got the will and technology to do it. We are not safe from these savages in KP and if these criminals are not taken out then this situation will not last for long and people in KP will stand up against these animals on their own to save their children and also barring Army if they're not doing their duty that we pay them for. We really hope Army stands for the protection of its people and avoid further delays as safety of Punjab doesn't mean ignoring our suffering.
One of the most tragic incidents happen and people like these twist that into a conspiracy !! Amazing!!!
The Taliban have vowed to kill Malala if she survives, and have vowed to kill her father, who is as heroic as she. Our fear, our apathy and our ignorance gave way for an incident we regret. But now, the same fear, the same apathy, and the same ignorance can lead to her death, to her father’s death. We have been given another chance, and I fear it is our last.
People say that the Taliban did this to Malala, but I think that we did. I think our silence causes and continues to cause our future to darken. People say that Malala represents Pakistan and its struggles, but I don’t think she does. I think she is one of the few who struggled for change, that she is one of the few that fought for a voice, that she is one – in one hundred and eighty million.
@Gill: You say that "We all know how many innocent lives, including children have been taken by drone attacks...", but then you don't tell us!!! Please provide some numbers so we can ALL see!
why its has to be a parliament decision, it should be the decision of the ruling coalition govt! guess you have to have spine in order to take bold actions and not get ruled by the minority.
I fully endorse the views expressed by Maulana, although I am not a voter of JUI (F). Malalah case was way over-covered just to please the US. We all know how many innocent lives, including children have been taken by drone attacks whose lives were equally important like Malalah's.
@Mother: I 100% agree with that. If she was not terrorist why was she visiting Afghanistan so regularly? I am sure she as an expert Microbiologist was helping Terrorist to get biological weapons such as lethal bacteria. She no doubt was a very dangerous lady!
@PakArmySoldier: Don't wait for another incident. Round them up NOW! Remember Iqbal: "Din e Mullah Fee Sabeel Allah Fassad".
It is clear beyond the shadow of a doubt that Maulana Fazlur Rehman is proving himself a fundamentalist to the core and that he is not interested in giving justice to Malala. Aafia has been given a sentence after the due process of law in the US. There is no parallel between the cases of Malala and Aafia. The fact is that Islamists in Pakistan, including without doubt Maulana Fazlur Rehman, are determined to push measures against the education of girls and will do nothing to enlist support of the legislature for rectifying the situation in North Waziristan, where the activities of Islamists of variopus hues constitute the provocation for US drone attacks. With friends like Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Pakistan does not need enemies.
If there is one more incident like Malala, I say we round these mullahs up.
Fazul Rahman, completely useless entity who has done nothing for country nor for religion, and is a fake Maulana who is always on fire because of too much diesel that he has consumed. What a disgrace to politics, country and even religion which he 'champions' as a fake Maulana.
Its amazing how low one can go for the sake of political gains.
Are you trying to say that the shooting of Malala was propaganda too? When will you religious fanatics take a backseat, stay away from politics and revel in your bigoted world which is so contrary to the teachings of the Quran...
Is this what CIA / RAW / Mussad agent look like?
This guy is a complete joke. Why are the Americans not sending a drone to him?
This guy calls himself a muslim the same guy that according to wikileaks was willing to do anthing for the U.S if he became the prime minister. He should be ashamed of himself for justifying the shooting of 14yr old girl if Pakistan was an eductaed society this guy would not be a politician sahe on you
Maulana, you have much to answer for...... and you will, My Princess Malala will ensure that.
The hands behind those who shot Malala are being exposed everyday....TAKE NOTE.
All these mullah's are Taliban collaborators. They should be put in jail, all of them. They are the infection that is eating Pakistan up from the inside.
His only agenda is to spoil the unity nation witnessed in case of Malala.........as his vote bank will be affected.....
.............and we are still looking for the enemy.
He has no credibility. The word Mola in Arabic means master.Moulana means our Master. Does he deserves to be called master. Is the public his slave?.In arabic speaking no religious scholar is called moulana. Why this stupidity in Pakistan?.
Maulana Sahib is jealous of the media coverage given to Malala......He wants the same coverage for himself.....after all he is a "popular" leader !!!
Mullahs present an existential threat to Pakistan.
Even before I read the article I knew this will be the first of many vote gathering speeches from Maulana sahib to boost MMA in absence of Ji ..
I do not understand why he is called Maulana, he indulges himself in all hanky-panky business that benefits him.
I absolutely agree with JUI Chief... Malala was given unprecedented attention and if you visit CNN website a whole section is dedicated to it...
Supply of diesel has been cut to Maulana so now he is no longer support of US aims. How come this Maulana was a tacit supporter all this time and now he tries to become a vocal opponent of drone attacks and NWA operation.
What a hypocrite, disgusting comments by Mr Rehman! He is not worthy of the title Maulana! First he takes funding from the US, then lavishes Pajeros and Mansions on himself whilst people in his constituents are starving, then decries drones! Truly aweful and sad behavior.
But this is all beside the point. A 14 year old girl was shot in the head by a senseless act of terrorism. What does Mr Rehman have to say about that? Its all a conspiracy? WAKE UP! When the whole country is bombed to the ground by the Taliban, he will still be saying the same thing!
Its sad that the debate about whether to take action against the Taliban is still on going, and whether or not this is a conspiracy.
WAKE UP PAKISTAN, before its too late.
Maulana Sb more than 40000 have been killed and u call it propaganda?
First of all we need a public outrage against this "diesel" moulvi sahib and his party who are sympathetic to Taliban outlaws instead being loyal to Pakistan.
He can only threat for gains. There is no substance for public
Has anybody heard of Mir Zafar ? May God bless Pakistan as there is no dearth of them in this country.
I do admit that I do not know all the facts. But, from whatever I have read Maulana, you seem to be a part of the problem, not a part of the solution.
