According to the report, Abidi issued the call on Thursday after having unsuccessfully tried to stage a sit-in while the Senate was in session. He later handed the chair some documents to back up among other claims that Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has misused his authority.
The Senator went on to demand that Justice Tasaduq Jilani should summon a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council over the matter.
Earlier in August, the Senator was reprimanded by his party for similar allegations and demands against the Chief Justice. He was issued a notice for violating party discipline and suspended from the PPP's core committee.

It is said that everyone is equal before law, the serious allegation made by Syed Faisal Raza Abidi ought to be addressed before some forum which may be competent in this behalf, apathetic behaviour on the part of concerned authorities is making the position of the Chief Justice suspicious. Mr Abidi blames that Dr Arsalan, the son of the Chief Justice owns a business having worth of about 900 million. Legally, Dr Arsalan is not bound to reveal to the public, source of his investment, however it will stregnthen the voice of his wellwishers. Policy of silence very likely will have adverse effect.
@Kazim: Truth is Truth. If UR a impartial, than U will see that Fasil is saying the Truth.
Mr Abidi, there is no doubt, is levelling very serious allegations against the Chief Justice, a stern action should be taken against him. What should be the course of action, in case those allegations or some of them are true. The concerned authorities, exective, judiciary, or any other, competent in this behalf, must look into it and forthwith take cognisance of the matter.
Faisal Reza Abidi might be too loud and blunt, but what he is saying has enough weight to look at the allegations seriously. Let's have a serious and impartial investigation and acquit those charged of misconduct and abuse of power and obstruction of justice and covering up of crimes and possible involvement of the CJ himself. This is the only way the trust in our judiciary can be rehabilitated and jobs of some of the members of the bench justified.
@Ali Raza: I live in the west.Any website where I can check his income and how much taxes he paid for all those yrs he is senetor. As president Reagen once said "you trust but always verify"
@Shahid Butt: We are satisfied with Abidi's stand, he pay tax every year. Kindly watch the Tv Programs of his Assets which he declares on t.v many times thnx
@Farooq: It will be helpful only for Malik Riaz.
Yep this so called Cheif should resign .
This person alone started war against Taliban and terrorist. He was the first person who raised his voice on mainstream media to go after Taliban and terrorist as they are biggest threat to Pakistan. Now after Malala incidence whole Pakistan is raising voice against this menace. He is a brave man and deserve respect and recognition. Unfortunately Pakistanis recognize and appreciate good people when they are not with us.
@Tariq: That comment made my day
"ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party stalwart, Senator Faisal Raza Abidi while levelling serious allegations against Chief Justice of Pakistan, called on him to resign," Senator Faisal Raza Abidi is crossing the limits. He should resign from the senate first then demand the CJ's resignation. PPP stalwarts do anything to stay in the news at the cost losing their votes. Now he is -1 ..... and counting.
why Court barred Media in the name of Justice Interest. Where is freedom of speech. If the same action was taken by Govt, there would have been much hue and cry.
Why CJ did not take Contempt of Court against him where as for one press conference we have seen suo moto against Riaz
The whole process is doubtful. I wonder why CJ took that much time in this case which was already investigated by previous CJ and only decision was supposed to announce.
SC should not take serious his statements as it seems to be the PPP tactics to waste SC time and divert attention from core issues.
Politicians and diapers should be changed frequently and all for the same reason. ~José Maria de Eça de Queiroz, translated from Portuguese
To me Faisal Raza Abdi reminds me of the spam email i forgot to delete.
Well, what more can you expect from a person like Abidi.
I couldn,t really understand about politicians do they re honest with their job and some time they would talk like peoples they dont know nothing about them but there is good thing with supreme court they asking to bring back public money but they making only funny stories doing nothing They would play with even s c
FBR should check the following. Did he file his tax return for the last 4 yrs? Did he show all of his income? Did he show all of his foreign accounts and assets? How much tax he paid in the last 4 yrs? Does he hold dual nationality? Has he been paying all his bills like gas and electricity? What about property tax bill payment? Please make all the information public. thanks
of course he is being used by PPP as counter weight. you think he would do this himself? if you think so, let me know what you are smoking because no PPP politician stands up for something 'right'. if they did, the first right thing they would do is to leave PPP as long as its under the chairmanship of zardari.
I wonder, his party is in power. The President and PM are also from his party. Who could stop him and his party for following the proper legal course of action, i.e. to file a reference in the Supreme Judicial Council, but only if he has some real proofs of CJP's wrong doings. I am also frustrated why Supreme Court is not taking this insane person more seriously, and take a stern action against him if his allegations are found baseless.
I call on Faisal Raza Abidi to resign his senate seat. He is an unnecessary cause of comotion without substance.
You should also go. we will not miss you both.
