LAHORE: Nine alleged militants released on bail from various jails of Punjab in September are planning attacks against rival sects in Moharram, warns a report of an intelligence agency forwarded to the IG Police Punjab.

The militants of banned outfits are trying to regroup, said the report citing sources within the terror network. These militants were arrested on charges of bomb blasts and terror attacks but were released on bail.

Considered as a security-threat, intelligence agencies particularly the Special Branch (SB) and Counter Terrorism department (CTD) are monitoring the movements of these persons, the report said.

According to the field staff of the SB and CTD, these militants have contacted their comrades in the proscribed organisations.

The report suggested strict vigilance of the said militants to foil their plans as well as to avert any untoward incident in the province.

The situation warrants close coordination among all intelligence agencies for sharing information and helping in nabbing the terrorists before they succeed in their plans, it said.

The alleged militants released on bails also included suspects arrested on charges of involvement in bomb blast at Sakhi Sarwar Shrine of Dera Ghazi Khan.
