Wanted murderer: Gunmen attack police station

After the shootout a heavy contingent of police was deployed and a search operation was launched.

KARAK: At least 20 armed men launched an attack on a police station in the district after police arrested one of their aides during a raid on Wednesday. District Police Officer Sajjad Khan said that in a raid at 7am conducted by Shah Saleem police, a proclaimed offender wanted in multiple cases of murder was arrested. During the raid, his aides opened fire at police attempting to release him. However, police managed to arrest suspect Gharib Nawaz. SHO Iqbal Khan told The Express Tribune that when police shifted him to the police station at around 8am, 20 gunmen surrounded the police station and opened fire to try and release the suspect. However police managed to repulse the attack and forced the culprits to flee. After the shootout a heavy contingent of police was deployed and a search operation was launched in the Shnawa Guddi Khel area. The SHO further added that a motorbike, an unlicensed 30-bore pistol and several rounds of bullets were also seized by police during the raid.
