Argument: Woman jumps in canal with step niece

Rescuers searched for the woman and the child for more than four hours, but to no avail.

MULTAN: A woman jumped into a canal on Wednesday following an argument with her step sister. She was carrying a three-year-old daughter of the step sister. Rescue teams were searching for the bodies till the filing of this report. Sahianwala police said that Hafiza Siddiqua, a resident of Chak 18, had an argument with her step sister, Sahib Bibi. They said she took Sahib Bibi’s three-year-old daughter, Aqsa, from her home and jumped in the nearby Dingro-JB. Some passers-by saw her and called the Rescue. Rescuers searched for the woman and the child for more than four hours, but to no avail. Rescue team in charge Sohail Ahmed said if the bodies were not found by night, the search would continue on Thursday (today).
