Additional IG Crime Investigation Department (CID) told the media that Rasheed was arrested from the Jamshed Quarters area of Karachi, and a hand grenade, a Kalashnikov and a TT pistol were recovered from him.
According to the police, the suspect has confessed to killing 100 people, including former MPA Raza Haider and Dr Hussain Haider.
Earlier during the day, an intelligence agency arrested four members of a banned organisation plotting terrorist attacks in Karachi and recovered arms and ammunition from them.
During January-March 2012, there were 160 incidents of target killing reported in Karachi, according to Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN). During the observed quarter, 44 people affiliated with political parties were killed, injured or kidnapped.

don't worry Hafiz qasim the courts will you let free.Salute to our judges.
@tahir: You are calling a self confessed sectarian killer as ULEMA. Shame on you
@sars: Do bring him to Justice, but please not Chief Justice...he will be tempted to release him with immediate effect...:)
Some he will be released on bail by our independent judiciary.
Shoot him in custody before he can get bail
These people are better dead then alive. Why police did not get bounty on his head rather then arresting him?.
Because he killed 100+ people he would be entitled for bail in Supreme Court of Pakistan. Any brilliant lawyer can cite the example of Hazrat Malik Ishaq infront of Azaad Adlia to get him out.
@tahir: What kind of follower of the 'ulema' defends violent self-confessed criminals such as these bigoted religious extremist terrorists? Unfortunate how shameless and open twisted ideologues are.
I think he will be bailed by Monday and then lawyers will come and shower petals on him. Pathetic!
Chief Justice Of Pakistan Should take Special Notice of this Arrest and his Hearing should be Telecast Live on T.V and he should be hanged to death Upon Conviction Under Section 368 Code of Criminal Procedure , If this will be Implemented then i assure you 100,000 Shia men and women who suffered such Huge Loss will Surely be very Happy. May Allah Bless Pakistani Justice System the TRUE meaning of Justice !
How come all these terrorists are either Hafiz ( of Quran), Mufti or ,Maulana etc. Hadith of HolyProphet Muhammad ( SAW) is fulfilled ,when he said " A time will come upon my Umma ,when they will be very stressed out and hey will run to the ulema for solace and answers and when they get there they will see strong textapes and khanzeers sitting there ( Just like Yahoods at the time of Jesus Christ).strong text
Please some one should stop 'free judiciary' from releasing him.
Hang him till death :@
According to the police, the suspect has confessed to killing 100 people,
And Malik Ishaq claims to have killed another 100. So what??????
Nothing happened to Ishaq, and the same will happen again.
Great. Now ball is in judiciary's court. So he ll be set free as the witnesses will either disappear or will change statements..
It's Time that these blood thirsty animals of human kind should be hanged in public.
Hang him before Judiciary let him go for murdering another hundred.
Yes, bring him to justice ASAP before some influential politician or diplomat gets him released. Also, please show the murderer's face rather than cover it to protect him from his enemies. JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED. Salams
Commendable effort by the police! But who will be held responsible of the 100+ people who were killed as aftermath of Raza Haider's killing. Karachi bleeding profusely and politics of reconciliation thriving!
@tahir This guy is not any religious figure, he is a terrorist. It will be sad to call this man as a religious figure.
Our honorable courts will release them on lack of evidence. No hope of justice.
I hope that the court will NOT grant him bail after killing 100 people.
As Maliq Ishaq's case,he will be set free very soon by the 'free courts' despite his confession!
Sadly, He'll be out soon just like his Boss Malik Ishaq
He probably killed more than 100. Will we see him get hanged? Is justice ever served in Pakistan? Please try to get all the info out of him and for God sake don't let this man kill anymore innocent civilians of Pakistan
please bring him to justice before he gets aquitted due to "influence" or jailbreak or assorted mis management.
