OGDCL to construct 175 water storage tanks

Project to provide clean drinking water to people in Shakardara, Kohat.

The Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) will construct 175 water storage tanks under its corporate social responsibility programme to provide clean drinking water to people in Shakardara Tehsil of Kohat, said a press release issued by the company on Tuesday.


The oil company has floated tenders for the project, which is expected to be completed at a cost of Rs6.6 million. The tenders will be opened at regional coordinator’s office on November 6.

OGDCL has been operating in Kohat for the last several years and producing 7,500 barrels of crude oil and 28 million cubic feet gas per day. To basic facilities to the local people, the company has undertaken several projects, including reconstruction of Government High School Shakardara at a cost of Rs1 million, provision of medicines to District Headquarters Hospital Shakardara at a cost of Rs40,000 per month and provision of clean drinking water to residents using tractor-trolleys at a cost of Rs1.2 million per month, the statement read.

The company also constructed a road linking the area to the Indus Highway at a cost of Rs90 million. Only local people were employed for the road project to alleviate poverty from the area, the statement added.
