FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Development Trust (FDT) plans to establish a housing colony for the poor, especially widows.

This was stated by Divisional Commissioner Syed Tahir Husain on Tuesday, during a meeting of the board of trustee of the FDT.

Husain directed the officials concerned to survey different areas to find a suitable site within a week for the Faisalabad Trust Colony.

The colony, said the DC, would have 500 two-marla houses. The meeting decided that 200 houses would be constructed in the first phase. The project will cost about Rs80 million.

The meeting also reviewed steps taken for the establishment of a 100-bed thalassaemia hospital in Faisalabad. It considered a proposal to set up a 100-bed ward at the Allied Hospital or District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for which the FDT will provide machinery and equipment.

Husain told the meeting that the FDT had provided hepatitis kits worth Rs1 million to the DHQ Hospital.
