"The Taliban attack on the 14-year-old girl, who from the age of 11 was involved in the struggle for education for girls, is an attack on all girls in Pakistan, an attack on education, and on all civilised people," Zardari said at an economic summit in the Azerbaijani capital Baku.
Malala was attacked on her school bus in the former Taliban stronghold of the Swat valley a week ago as a punishment for campaigning for the right to an education and free expression.
In some of his most poignant remarks on the incident to date, Zardari vowed not to let her shooting stop the nation's drive to educate girls.
"The work that she led was higher before God than what terrorists do in the name of religion. We will continue her shining cause," he said.
The shooting has been denounced worldwide and by Pakistan, which has said it will do everything possible to ensure Malala recovers and will meet all the costs of her treatment.
She was flown to Britain for treatment on Monday where doctors said she had "a chance of making a good recovery".
The murder attempt has sickened Pakistan, where Malala came to prominence with a blog for the BBC highlighting atrocities under the Taliban, who terrorised the Swat valley from 2007 until an army offensive in 2009.

Zardari is no mulla but Imran definitly is a harcore mulla... with a big big beard inside his belly which I am sure, will sooner or later appear on his face which is one of two remaining evidence of his playboy past..the name of other evidence is Teryan who is safe from barbarity of Imran's favoured Taliban since she lives safely(from Taliban or people with Taliban mentality ) in the west.

Attack on education was carried out years ago when the government deliberately kept reducing the education budget to now 1% of GDP, requirement is 4%.
So Mr President? What do you do when your entire nation is attacked? Get political mileage out of the event?
The president is correct. We will not let this country pass to few hundred thousand illiterate thugs. They have a choice to either to mend their ways or get annihilated.
No, the attack is not just "all Pakistani girl" ----- sir, it's an attack on Pakistan and us all. We all, every woman, man, girls and boys, have been attacked and we must unite and crush those, all those, who dare to attack us and those who wish to justify any such attack.
Zardari supports peace with India, is anti-Taliban, supports Girl's education(without bringing Drone strikes),etc. yet he is not popular in Pakistan.
Imran Khan supports talking to the Taliban, who tried to murder the girl in question and he is really really popular.
There is something really worrying about this. The trend is crystal clear!
