Regularising kiosks: Body formed to frame policy for issuance of licences

The capital’s traders were critical of the presence of kiosks in the capital’s commercial markets.

The Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) on Monday constituted a committee to review the status of kiosks and to frame a policy for issuing licences to the owners to regularise their business.


The committee will review the legality of kiosks located in and around the capital, investigate irregularities in setting up of 450 kiosks near the Faizabad Interchange and suggest a course of action for existing kiosks, according to a press release issued by the civic agency.

The capital’s traders were critical of the presence of kiosks in the capital’s commercial markets.

CDA Chairman Tahir Shahbaz has asked the committee to submit its report by October 23.

The committee will be headed by CDA’s member finance Azhar Ali Chaudry, board members for administration, planning and design and the environment.

Meanwhile, Mustafain Kazmi has assumed charge as member planning and design on the CDA board. Kazmi’s most recent position was member administration.

Market for sacrificial animals

CDA will establish a market for sacrificial animals in sector I-11/4 for Eidul Azha.

The market was auctioned on Monday and will remain open from Zil Hajj 1 to 13. Sale of sacrificial animals in the capital other than at the official market has been banned.

The highest bid for the auction was Rs5.26 million and 21 private contractors participated in the auction.
