Polio vaccination: Drive launched in Faisalabad, Sialkot

SIALKOT/ FAISALABAD: Executive District Officer Health Dr Abdur Rauf and District Coordination Officer Zahid Saleem Gondal on Sunday launched the polio immunisation drive in Faisalabad and Sialkot, respectively. Rauf said that about 1.073 million children up to five years of age would be administered polio drops during the three-day polio drive officially starting from Monday. Addressing a ceremony at the General Hospital, Samanabad, Rauf said 2,753 teams had been constituted to administer the polio vaccine to children. As many as 2,229 teams would go door-to-door and 76 zonal supervisors and 454 area incharges would monitor their performance. He said all arrangements had been completed for the drive and an advertisement campaign launched. Addressing the media in Sialkot, DCO Gondal said Health Department teams would also administer polio drops to children of nomad families in the district. He said it would be the second dose of polio drops given to these children. EDO Health Zafar Awan and District Health Officer (DHO) Javaid Warraich were also present on this occasion.
