President's trophy: Yasir spins SNGPL to victory

Leg-spinner takes six wickets as KRL downed in President’s Trophy.

Leg-spinner Yasir Shah finished with a six-wicket haul as SNGPL defeated KRL by 219 runs in their President’s Trophy second-round match at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.


KRL started the final day, precariously placed at 29 for three, in pursuit of a daunting target of 304 but failed to handle Shah and were all out for a paltry 84 in 37 overs. Shah finished with six for 30 to cap a superb day for the spinner.

SNGPL now have a maximum 18 points and are three points ahead of second-placed HBL.

HBL romp to emphatic win

Meanwhile, seamer Ehsan Adil took nine wickets and Aslam Qureshi claimed eight scalps in the match to bowl HBL to an emphatic 184-run victory against Wapda at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

HBL were all out for 282 after resuming the day on 238 for seven. Set a target of 336, Wapda were bowled out for 151 in 54.5 overs.

PIA register victory

Defending champions PIA earned their first win of the tournament as they registered an impressive 69-run win against a spirited UBL outfit at the UBL Stadium.

Saad Sarkhail top-scored with a 188-ball 93, laced with 16 boundaries, to lead UBL’s fight but ended up on the losing side after being bowled out for 242 in 80.1 overs in their quest of 302. The trio of Aizaz Cheema, Najaf Shah and Akhtar Waheed Kayani took three wickets apiece.

Elsewhere, SBP hit back from behind to beat PQA by six wickets at the National Stadium, while ZTBL’s team effort gave them an 84-run win against NBP. Fawad Alam failed to save NBP despite an unbeaten 112 off 148 balls.

NBP’s top-order failed but their lower order was impressive as Wahab Riaz played a responsible innings of 53, putting on an important partnership with Alam, while all-rounder Muhammad Nawaz chipped in with 31.

All-rounder Zohaib Khan completed a decent outing with three wickets to take his match tally to six besides playing an unbeaten knock of 83 while Mohammad Khalil, who took four wickets in first innings, claimed two wickets.
