Women entrepreneurs: Commerce secretary assures support

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Commerce Secretary Munir Qureshi said on Thursday that all developed countries have prospered by economically empowering women; realising which, the government is taking all possible steps to ensure their progress. He was talking to a delegation of businesswomen. On the occasion, Samina Fazil, founder president of the Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, sought the government’s support for a product development hub, a display centre and help from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). The commerce secretary assured full support and directed TDAP to include women entrepreneurs in its trade delegations, and reconsider rules and regulations so that they can encourage business activity and provide concessions to women in expos organised by TDAP.
