
Despite conceding a first-innings lead, SBP hit back to dismiss PQA for 160 in their second-innings. Mohammad Salman scored 64, while SBP bowler Hassan Mehmood claimed four key wickets and Adnan Rasool finished with three wickets as PQA lost their hold on the game.
Set a modest target, SBP attacked from the word go as the PQA bowlers were put on the back foot. The bowlers, who had produced fiery spells in the first-innings, failed to respond the second time around with Siddiq consuming just 52 balls for his 73.
In another match, unbeaten half-centuries from Saad Sarkhail (68) and Ali Asad (53) led UBL’s fightback against PIA as they set off to overhaul a competitive target of 321 at the UBL Complex.
UBL will resume the last day on 144 for three and still need 168 runs to attain an unlikely win.
Earlier, PIA were all out for 222 in 68.2 overs but not after a first-innings lead of 89 runs. Kamran Sajid scored 62 off 168 balls, while Sarfraz Ahmed made 41. Kashif Bhatti bagged a five-for while Shabbir Ahmed clamed four wickets.
Elsewhere, ZTBL were in pole position against NBP after setting a daunting target of 390. In reply, NBP were 25 for the loss of one wicket with the final day’s play remaining.
ZTBL declared their second- innings at 239 for eight as Afaq Rahim made a 173-ball 92 while Sharjeel scored 57. Wahab Riaz claimed three scalps.
In other games, a six-wicket haul from Samiullah Niazi and a quick 95-run knock from Mohammad Hafeez brightened SNGPL’s chances of a victory against KRL going into the final day at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.
The clash between HBL and Wapda hung in the balance after HBL took a first-inning leads at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
