The fatwa declared that the murder of innocent people is tantamount to killing entire humanity.
The fatwa observed that US drone attacks could not be made an excuse for carrying out attacks on Muslim brethren, and added that the US is an enemy of Pakistan and Islam.
The edict further declared that Islam does not forbid women from obtaining education.

* *The dual standard people one side they blame that ulama are terrorists and on the other hand follow the fattawa of them.
@tattle-tale:
Fatwa as i understand is the verdict / decision given by Mullshs / Ulemas on any act as Islamic or non Islamic based on their interpretation of Sharia( Quran & Hadiths).. .Yes, declaration of attack on a young girl Malala as un Islamic shall have some impact on the Muslim society ( of Pakistan) but the universal values and common sense itself says that this attack is barbaric and unjustified. You must be aware that TTP has justified their attack on Malala citing certain precedence of Sharia per their interpretation ( Some Mullah might have declared the killing of Malala ( treating her enemy of Islam) as justified. So I feel that doctrine of Fatwa itself requires to be discussed / debated / reviewed . It is not Fatwa but the condemnation by the society at large, will change the perspective of West / non Muslims .
The "fatwa" was not issued by Ulema in Karachi but it was issued by Ulema in Lahore, where Altaf has no significant influence.
@Poleturtle: No...more like 100 out of 180 million Mullahs
Extremism burning our candle from both ends... Survival is a hope and fading future of flourished Pakistan has blindfolded the justice and may be left over chunks of some shattered humanity in my countrymen. Malala may b one victim of many... May we revive the true Islam in Pakistan... We can only pay salam to those who broke the shackles of cowardliness and hypo-crypt ulema...
And few dews cant get through their minds how painless n ruthless...
Just 50 out of 5 million Mullahs. ???

@sabi:
Well said. If conscience were to be the sole guide, then it would make religion redundant.
Give these mullahs a few dollars and you can get any type of fatwa you like.
Hahaha Waah Altaf Bhai Waah :D
@ umer ...what does shia ulema have to do with it. the wahabi sect of islam was injected in pakistani society through madarsas by saudi and other arab bretheran.. They are the ones who are on a killing rampage...so u and ur ulema better condem such brutal acts otherwise altaf bhai will make u.
Legal punishment to the culprits should come first and Why does America come into picture and why always "Muslim brethren" and not human.
I gave the same fatwa three days back before Altaf Bhai's statement but nobody endorsed my fatwa. It takes a politician to motivate "political ulemas".
@p r sharma: "do you think that you really represent western perspective ? ( on fatwa)." I hesitate to say I represent the western perspective. I rarely do. Also, I don't know much about fatwas. But I do think a strong statement from Muslim religious leaders saying that this shooting was a reprehensible and un-islamic act would have a positive impact on many westerners who think that Islam condones murder. One thing I think the fatwa should NOT call for is the killing of the perpetrators. I think it should call upon the government to take legal action to bring justice for Malala. As an American and a Jew to boot, it's very strange for me to even give an opinion on fatwas, but I do think it would help by declaring that the Muslim community does not tolerate attempted murder of anyone, let alone an innocent child [even though our own president essentially issues death 'fatwas' which kill many innocent children and civilians and, unlike the western perspective, I hate that.]
this is coward act made by taliban they have proved that they are wrong and using islam to obtain their own banifits, malala is the symbol of honer and peace for pakistan who did this they must be hanged to death they are not muslim they are even not humen we pray for malala and other two injured gilrs
Fatwa is given after asked/apealled/order whatever of govt or political leaders. Religion and Faith of people is also decided by Govt and polititions .. !!! Amazing !!
How did America get into this Fatwa against this cowardly and horrible attack against a little girl....shows how warped our clerics minds are....all suffer from collective attention deficit disorder.
The fatwa they gave essentially goes like this Attack against Malala bad, but America badder still.The second part is non-sensical
@Enlightened:
Why only a fatwa but no call for a protest rally issued ?
No thanks - I don't think the country can take many more rallies. The main thing now is to bring the culprits to justice.
@sabi: No doubt, the conscience or the collective conscience, a gift of God Almighty should rule supreme as the God while presenting the Prophet(PBUH) before the Meccans neither showed miracles nor sent angels to each and every person but invoked the conscience of the people.But the problem with we the majority of illiterate so-called religiously-minded Pakistanis is that we think the mullah and the mufti to be nearer to God and presume that to obey him is to obey the God. Hence, a fatwa may work for such a lot.
@tattle-tale: do you think that you really represent western perspective ? ( on fatwa).
@Jibran: With due respect may i ask why some one has to be declared as non Muslim for wrong deeds. please ponder over it.
@Khan: I do not believe in a fatwa notwithstanding what is written in Islam's texts. Pakistan must educate its citizens so that they will all believe that women are not the slaves of men to be kept hidden. It is a lie when a Muslim says that he treats women as equal. I hear that a lot from Muslims who have left their countries to live here and then put hijab on girls as old as 4or 5 years. Additionally many also illegally carry out genital mutilation on their daughters. Also this fatwa is weak in that it does not say that women have a right to education and no Muslims should work to obstruct women from getting education. If they issue a fatwa which says that killing is unislamic as are stopping women from getting an education and women having freedom to dress as they like then I will say that Islam has come of age. Till this occurs the world will not give Islam the respect it deserves.
@sabi: From a western perspective, I think a fatwa is a very good idea. I don't see it as undermining the state or the constitution. A statement from the State only speaks for the government, but a statement from Muslim clerics speaks for Islam.
@Pungi:
I'm sorry. Did we offend you by condemning the terrorists?
I am surprised no Shia ulema have supported this fatwa so far. What are they waiting for, Iran’s permission? It’s regrettable but Shia ulema’s actions are not always reflective of attitude of leaders of a persecuted and sensitive to oppression community.
Here we go again. 50 more targets now for suicide bombers. Fortunate/Lucky/Glad I left this country.
Why the mention of US being enenmy of Islam and Pakistan added in this fatwa? This is also at attempt to please TTP.
@Enlightened You people won't b satisfied EVER
Ulemas should also pass a fatwa against corruption and terrorism.
Why mince words, qualify, rationalize, and somehow talk about misguided youth, and all that crap...say it like it is...the Taliban are thugs and murderers..and every one should drive them out or destroy them. Talking about the bad deeds of someone else ("Amrika") and killing your own people is the height of absurd behavior... The world watches astounded, as we see a constant stream of photographs and videos of bearded lunatics rampaging through streets.
Where is maulana diesel and what is qazi doing. Having a party with the terrorists
The wording of the fatwa is too weak. All terrorists should have been declared Khawarji, and the fatwa should have called for a constitutional amendment to declare them non-Muslims as well as a protest after Friday prayers.
The "50 collective" fatwa will soon be overid by a bigger "80 collective" fatwa from the next town which in turn will be again overidden by the powerful "100 collective" fatwa passed by the 3rd city and so on...
If fatwa was a Olympic event, Pakistan would get the Bronze, Silver and the Gold.
So none of the Deobandi, Wahabi and Ahl-e-Hadith muftis have issued a fatwa against taliban. Same with Jamaat Islami leadership. No surprise there.
Why we need fatwa from the clerics.What does our collective conscience says! Demanding fatwa means accepting clerics as supreme body.Is this a state or failed state. Stable states never need fatwas to run affairs but follow general laws of constitution.
yeah hai Altaf Hussain ka kaamal........Magic of Altaf Hussain.............. Long live Altaf Hussain
Thanks to MQM and its leadership for taking this issue strongly ... If Ulemas and Muftis come forward and issue Fatwa against Taliban, I am sure we can safe our daughters from these beasts..
@Enlightened: a fatwa is stronger than a protest because a protest is for a day and has no result but a fatwa tarnishes the image of thought that all the clerics support(TTP)
strong text 786 i m praying for my sweet daughter i wish her for best of luck .Inshallaha,I hope , that God give longe life for my sweet daughter and also good hope she will get recover soon.Ameen. قُلْ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا هُدًى وَشِفَاء
What a surprise! Altaf Hussain's statement worked!
Thanks to the Ulema Council. Now the Taliban apologists should review their soft emotions towards Taliban. There are even educated people on the social media who justify the Taliban over shooting Malala.
