KARACHI: The Pakistan Sports board (PSB) has refused to issue an NOC to the Pakistan Jiu-Jitsu Federation (PJF) ahead of its scheduled participation in the Asian Jiu Jitsu Championship which starts in Tehran from October 20.

According to a PJF official, the government has refused to let the players travel due to the tenure-restrictions and the feud between PSB and Pakistan Olympic Association. However, despite the snub, the players said that the restriction over their championship was disappointing.

“We have been preparing for the Asian Championship for months,” coach and referee Shabina Saeed told The Express Tribune. “It’s disappointing, but now we are focused on our event in the Punjab Sports festival. A total of 27 teams will be coming here and that should make up for the loss of touring Iran.”
