Armed assault: Two police personnel gunned down

BANNU: Two police personnel were gunned down by unidentified masked motorcyclists in New Sabzi Mandi area on Monday. An official of Mundan police, Sabz Ali, said that around 6:30pm, the assailants travelling on three motorbikes opened fire at Constable Sahar Zaman and Constable Sharafat. They were on duty at the Sabzi Mandi checkpoint. After the shooting, the attackers also took away the guns of the dead police officials. Ali said that this was the second incident in three months, in which the police was targeted on the checkpoint. Talking to The Express Tribune, SHO Akhtar Ali said that he had just patrolled the area and passed by the two constables. “Just three minutes ago, I waved my hand to both the personnel to stay alert on duty and passed through them in the police van,” he said. The dead were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy while the city has been sealed to catch the culprits.
