Relief assistance: ‘Draining water is our first priority’

More than 800,000 people have been affected by devastating rains in Jacobabad, said Sindh chief minister’s adviser for relief and rehabilitation, Haleem Adil Shaikh, on Sunday.

While talking to the media in Thull, Shaikh said that the taluka has been affected the most in the district as rainwater continues to accumulate and little or no relief had been provided.

“Our first priority is to drain the stagnant water which is hampering daily activities and could cause an epidemic,” he said.

Shaikh hoped that the government would provide people immediate assistance.
