Squash: Unseeded Nasir wins in Kuala Lumpur

KARACHI: Upcoming Pakistan player Nasir Iqbal claimed the Royal Lake Club Open title after outclassing an Indian opponent in straight games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia yesterday.

According to details made available, the 18-year old, who entered as an unseeded contestant in the $10,000 tournament, outplayed Harinderpal Sandhu to claim his second Professional Squash Association (PSA) title.

The Bannu-born squash player showcased strong stamina on the final day by winning two matches including the semi-final. He first had to finish his rescheduled last-four fixture against home favourite Kamran Khan. The Pakistani won the match with scores of 11-8, 11-8, 11-2.

Later, the teenager continued his brilliance to beat Sandhu 11-6, 11-5 and 11-5 in quick time. The youngster looked impressive throughout the event as he did not drop a single game throughout his unbeaten four-match streak.
