Vacuum sciences: Scientists from 30 countries to participate in conference
The conference will start at the Pak-China Friendship Centre from Tuesday.
A total of 225 papers will be presented by 45 foreign and 180 local researchers at the Sixth Vacuum and Surface Sciences Conference of Asia and Australia (VASSCAA-6).
The conference will start at the Pak-China Friendship Centre from Tuesday, said a press release issued by the Pakistan Vacuum Society (PVS).
This biennial event has become one of the prime international forums at which engineers and scientists from around the globe keep themselves up-to-date with new developments in vacuum technology.
International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Application President Dr JJ Pireaux will chair the conference. Scientists and engineers from 30 countries including America, Japan, South Korea, France, UK, Russia, Kazakhstan, Argentina, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Austria and Saudi Arabia will attend, in addition to 250 delegates from various educational and research institutions from Pakistan.
The conference will include an industrial exhibition of vacuum equipment and industrial systems, where international and local manufacturers will showcase their latest products. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industries, meetings between local and foreign business representatives will also be arranged with the hope of opening new vistas for business opportunities. Technical short courses will also be arranged in separate sessions.
This year, the papers and discussions will focus on surface science and engineering, electronic materials and processing, nanometre structures, thin film, vacuum science and technology, plasma science and techniques, and bio-interfaces and renewable energy technologies.
