SUKKUR:
A case has been registered against ten policemen, including SHO Thari Mir Wah, for killing a young man on Thursday during a raid in Dodo Khan Khaskheli village.
A heavy contingent of law enforcers led by Thari Mir Wah SHO Ghulam Mustafa Rajput, raided Dodo Khan Khaskheli village. They reportedly ransacked houses and started mistreating woman and children.
A young man, Altaf Khaskheli, was angered by this came out of his house to intervene. Khaskheli exchanged hot words with SHO Rajput, who started beating him. The other policemen joined in and fatally injured Khaskheli with the butts of their guns.
Later, hundreds of villagers gathered at the National Highway near Ranipur and blocked the road by laying dead body on it. They shouted slogans against the police, saying that an innocent young man had been murdered. The protest caused a traffic jam and hundreds of vehicles were stranded on the road.
When contacted, the head constable at the Thari Mir Wah police station , Karam Ali told The Express Tribune that a woman had lodged FIR on Wednesday night against some men, including Gulshan Khaskheli. “She claimed that they broke into her house, looted valuables and tried to rape her. But they fled when she screamed for help,” said Ali. “SHO Rajput raided the village to arrest Gulshan, who is the elder brother of the killed man.” The constable said that the victim suffered a heart attack when he saw a heavy contingent of law enforcers approaching his house. “We have still registered an FIR against ten policemen, including SHO Rajput and ASI Rehmatullah Solangi.” But no arrests have been made.
While talking to The Express Tribune, the victim’s father, Comrade Ghous Bux Khaskheli refuted the police’s claims. He said that his son was a PML-F worker and had been killed for protesting against the ordinance.
