Crime scene: Bandit killed in ‘encounter’

Dijkot SHO Mian Rafiq later visited the scene and shifted the body to mortuary.

FAISALABAD: A man was killed on Tuesday in Dijkot area in what police called a shootout with robbers. Operations SSP Sadiq Ali Dogar told the media that three men were robbing people of their valuables near Roshanwala Bypass when a police patrol van passed that way. He said police challenged the men who shot at the police and then fled on a motorcycle towards Gilani Chowk. The police chased them. The men entered a sugarcane field and resumed firing. Police returned their fire, killing one of the robbers. His two accomplices, however escaped. The deceased was, later, identified as Abrar Husain, a resident of Chak 427-GB, Jhok Sajawal, Tandlianwala. Dijkot SHO Mian Rafiq later visited the scene and shifted the body to mortuary.
