Ied explosions: Boys school blown up, official targeted

So far, 104 schools have been destroyed in Mohmand, including 60 in the Safi area.

GHALLANAI: A boys government school was blown up when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded Sunday night in the Habibzai area of Safi. Mohmand’s education department reports that Safi is the most affected area by militancy. So far, 104 schools have been destroyed in Mohmand, including 60 in the Safi area. Majority of the schools are now closed while the school staff is still being paid. Militants are mostly blamed for these attacks but rarely do they claim responsibility for it. In another incident, the Assistant Political Agent Rasool Khan Wazir was attacked when an IED exploded on Monday. Wazir said that he was coming toward Ekka ghund when the blast occurred near Chopan check post. He narrowly escaped but his vehicle was damaged. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. Earlier on Thursday and Friday, electricity towers were blown up, which disrupted the power supply to Mohmand Agency.
