KARACHI: Top-seed Mohammad Asif was forced to battle hard for a 4-3 win over Mohammad Imran in their Lagnese 4th Ranking Snooker Cup group match while Shahram Changezi won both his matches at the National Bank Sports Complex.

Asif was up 3-1 at one stage but Imran won two consecutive games to take the match into a decider. However, Asif edged past in the final frame and won 64-40, 37-70, 83-37, 73-56, 30-43, 33-69 and 77-43.

Meanwhile, Changezi won a seven-setter against Mohammad Nazeer in his early match and defeated Muhammad Javed 4-2 in the second match of the day.

Sharjeel Mehmood won both of his matches while in-form Asjad Iqbal notched up an easy 4-2 victory against Vishan Gir. Third-seed Sultan Mohammad put behind the earlier disappointment where he lost both his matches by piping Imran Shehzad 4-3 registering a break of 110 in process.

Khurram Agha continued his good comeback in the circuit as saw off challenge from Naveen Perwani to win 4-2. Youngster Mohammad Majid overcame his nerves to chalk up a 4-3 win against Sohail Shehzad while Shahid Aftab stunned Mohammad Sajjad 4-1.
