ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan Peoples Party has refused to offer any support to its MNA Rai Ghulam Mujtaba for “misguiding” the party leadership by concealing his dual Canadian nationality.

According to PPP sources, Rai, who was elected on a PPP ticket from NA 143 Okara, had assumed Canadian citizenship in 2001.

Rai also hold the office of parliamentary secretary for interior. The MNA had denied possessing dual nationality when the party leadership had earlier enquired him about it.

However, he tried to contact the party leadership when the Supreme Court took notice of his dual nationality.

The party leaders excused themselves from assisting him.

Despite repeated attempts, Rai was not available for comments. Sources said that the PPP is aware that the evidence against him in the Supreme Court is very strong and his case cannot be defended successfully.

the case of dual nationality is not a crime but it is a crime if it is not declared as per constitutional clause 63 ( 1 C )..one that is made by these MPs themselves...do you make laws for the fun of it ?
