Unregistered pharmaceuticals: Standing Committee plans to take action

Committee was also informed that the draft of the Drug Regulatory Authority has been finalised.

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on National Regulations and Services has recommended that action be taken against unregistered pharmaceutical units. He also urged that a mechanism should be evolved to regulate medicine prices in the country. The committee chaired by MNA Advocate Muhammad Usman was also informed that the draft of the Drug Regulatory Authority has been finalised and will be tabled in the next session of the National Assembly. The joint secretary briefed the committee on the pharmaceutical sector of Pakistan, its composition and the pharmaceutical market. The committee also decided that a subcommittee should be formed which should check the quality of the medicines provided to the masses.
