Ied explosion: One security personnel killed, two injured

It was the first IED explosion in Kurram Agency in September.

HANGU: One security personnel was killed and two were injured while defusing an improvised explosive device (IED) in Jorh area of Kurram Agency on Sunday. An official said that the security forces were patrolling the mountainous region of Jorh which leads to Tirah valley of Khyber Agency, when they come across an IED planted by unidentified militants. A security personnel was called in to defuse the bomb. The IED detonated, however, killing the official on the spot, while two security personnel standing nearby were injured. The official added that the injured were rushed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Thal. It was the first IED explosion in Kurram Agency in September while 12 IED explosions have occurred in other areas of Fata. Nine out of 12 explosions were reported in Khyber Agency alone and two each in Orakzai and North Waziristan agencies.
