It was a see-saw of sorts with Bilal and Sultan winning alternate frames, but it was the former who won the match after defeating Sultan in the last frame 86-5.
“Of course it’s not encouraging to lose your very first match,” Sultan told The Express Tribune. “But I’m holding on and hope that this loss serves as a motivation for me to do better in the future.”
Meanwhile, Agha failed to dominate even a single frame against Nazeer and went down 79-47, 48-35, 65-50, 70-10.
Second-seed Asjad Iqbal brushed aside Mohammad Ishtiaq 4-1 while Pakistan number one Muhammad Asif eased past Bilawal Agha 4-0.
In other matches, former Pakistan number one Mohammad Sajjad defeated Abu Saim 4-1 and Sohail Shehzad beat Mohammad Afzal 4-1 in their respective matches.
