Rioters charged: Two sent to jail on judicial remand

On Wednesday, West Cantt Police Station registered an FIR against 9,500 unidentified men.

A local Peshawar court has arrested two people for allegedly looting and damaging government and private property on Yaum-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (pbuh) Day.


Javed and Naveed, both residents of the Tehkal area of the provincial capital, had been in custody of the Tehkal police for two days and were produced before a local Magistrate Zafarullah on Wednesday. Magistrate Zafrullah later sent them to the central prison for a two-day judicial remand.

Police have lodged FIRs against people under different sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Anti-Terrorism Act. Activists of religious parties are among the accused.

On Wednesday, West Cantt Police Station registered an FIR against 9,500 unidentified men.
