Children welfare: 70,000 kids get skill education

Unicef and the provincial government have collaborated to impart vocational skills to 70,000 children.

BAHAWALPUR: Commissioner Mohammad Khan Khichi has said that the United Nations Children’s Education Fund (Unicef) and the provincial government have collaborated to impart vocational skills to 70,000 children.Chairing a meeting of the Child Protection Committee, Khichi said the programme to equip the children with skills would open a new chapter in the economic and social development of the Punjab. The meeting was told that education and clean drinking water projects would start in eight union councils of Bahawalpur and seven of Lataki and Rahim Yar Khan. In the first phase, steps are being taken for the socio-economic development of children in Bahawalpur and Yazman’s 160 villages. DCO Dr Naeem Rauf said a project would be launched for child protection.
