World T20: India game a huge one, says Hussey

Australia batsman Michael Hussey believes that winning today’s match against India will lift considerable pressure from his team’s shoulders, thereby enabling them to play other teams in the Super Eights with an easy mind.

After today’s match, Australia are scheduled to face South Africa and Pakistan next week.

“If we can win this first one in the Super Eights, it will probably give us that confidence and that little buffer that you know you just need one out of the last two to get through,” said Hussey. “All the [batsmen] are playing well in the nets and they’ve got a lot of confidence, and that’s a big part of Twenty20. You need to have no doubts in your mind or fears, you’ve got to trust yourself and let your instincts take over.”

The Australian team have been preparing tirelessly for the match after a break of two days following their qualification for the Super Eights.

“We have had a few relaxing days but I expect that’s all about to end. The pressure and tension are only going to rise as we get closer to the [today’s] match because it’s a huge game.”
