The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) seized bank accounts of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to recover withholding tax of Rs30 million, Express News reported Wednesday.

However, Express News quoted sources as saying that the FBR has recovered Rs18 million.

Despite blocking billions of rupees in refunds, the central government has missed the annual tax collection target by a wide margin of Rs80-85 billion, which will widen the gap between income and expenditure.

Against the annual target of Rs1.952 trillion, the FBR collected Rs1.865 trillion by June 30, 2012 showing a gap of Rs87 billion, a senior FBR official had told The Express Tribune.

@Akif: This is not good plan. News should be reported whether it is bad or good. It is only by reporting negative news that people become aware of it. If all bad things are hidden from us then we do not live in a good country, and we are not aware of real problems. Pakistan has many problems, but also there are many good things, and people can see this around the world. If reporters fail report bad news, they dont do their job correctly.
