Two more gunned down in Hangu
Despite a ban on pillion riding since April 2012 in Hangu, two more people were gunned down and three others injured on Tuesday when unidentified armed motorcyclists fired at them on Hangu-Thal Road.
The deceased were en-route to Kotgi Payan in a van when two armed men riding a motorcycle shot them with an assault rifle near Jehaz-Maidan Stadium.
DPO Hangu Mian Saeed Khan told The Express Tribune that the deceased were identified as Asif Iqbal and Sadiqullah, who were taken to their hometown in Kotgi. The injured Hashmatullah, Zia and Sadullah, were rushed to the district headquarters hospital.
He said that police have set up checkpoints across the city for tracking down the accused, adding that initial investigations revealed that the men were killed over a personal dispute. On Monday afternoon, a man identified as Muhammad Zamin was sprayed with bullets by unidentified motorcyclists. Police claimed that he was killed over personal enmity. However, locals said that both the incidents were cases of targeted killings and asked the district administration and police to take stern action against the culprits.
On August 25, two persons were gunned down by unidentified motorcyclists on the outskirts of the city, while on July 17 and 19, three people were killed in the same manner.

Such murders should also get coverage. Killing isn't always a result of militancy. Shocking murder takes place quite often. The case of a man killing his two sisters the other day in Nowshera, the Peshawar man getting arrested for killing his sister after she recording her first song as a singer, woman found dead in Khazana with her 2 year-old sitting by her, crying. And the case of two cops firing on a family in a car in Mardan a few days back and subsequent arrest of the cops only after tremendous pressure of the public. Most victims are women in these disputes. The English press needs to pay attention to this.
