A Senate Special Committee on Tuesday sought the details of promotions and recruitments made in the Grade IV category in Pakistan State Oil (PSO). It has also inquired into expenditures incurred on such persons’ salaries and perks during the last five years, starting from January 2007.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senator Jehangir Badar. During the meeting, PSO Chairman Suhail WH Siddique presented a report regarding recruitments made in the country’s largest oil marketing company. While going through the report, Senator Badr termed it unsatisfactory and directed PSO to present more details regarding recruitments in Grade IV and promotions made from 2007 to 2012.
The committee also sought details of expenditures incurred on employees hired between 2007 and 2012. During the session, Senator Zahid Khan had pointed out that PSO had not observed quota allocations during the recruitment process.
The committee was told that PSO has a sanctioned strength of 2,300 employees, out of which 2,113 have already been recruited. These include 695 persons from Punjab, 33 from Balochistan, 1,089 from Sindh, 261 from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 21 from Fata, and 14 newly-recruited employees who hail from Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The chairman of the committee directed Petroleum Secretary Waqar Masood Khan to observe transparency in the recruitment process, and to adhere to the provincial quota allocations while allocating new jobs.
During the meeting, it was decided that a committee headed by Senator Zahid Khan will go to Karachi to double-check details and report them back to the committee.
PSO Managing Director Naeem Yahya also informed attendees that PSO was planning to set up more than 70 oil refineries in the country. Two more projects are being finalised, namely the Chitroba Project and the Hub Industrial Projects. He said the projects will provide jobs to locals of Balochistan. He reassured the Senators that new recruitments in PSO will be made on strictly on merit and with regard to quota allocations.

Where were these 2113 positions advertised? Why don't you complete the remaining slot 187 employees to make it full 2300 and then make people fool.
