KARACHI: Two first-half goals helped KPT register a comfortable win over Afghan FC in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) match that took place at the KPT Stadium in Karachi yesterday.

Strikers Junaid Qadir and Zahid Ahmed had their names registered on the scoresheet to help the hosts secure their second win in the tournament after seven matches.

After a dull start to the game with both sides trying to maintain possession, KPT found the opening they were looking for.

Qadir hit the target in the 36th minute to put KPT in the lead as their strikers continued to attack the Afghan FC goal-post. Spurred by the lead, KPT scored another goal six minutes later when Zahid dodged the Afghan FC defenders to find the target as the hosts went to the half-time interval with a reasonable cushion.

Trailing 2-0, Afghan FC made several attempts to stage a comeback in the second-half but their strikes were countered by goal-keeper Sajid Hussain, who blocked at least a couple of superb shots to ensure a KPT win.

Afghan FC strikers – Khan Junior and Samad Khan – were cautioned for rough play in the second-half, while Hussain was declared the player of the match.

In today’s matches, Wohaib FC take on ZTBL in Lahore, while Karachi plays host to encounters between HBL and Baloch FC with Navy and Muslim FC also clashing in the city.
